Art of the State 2012

The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art in Tuscumbia, Alabama, hosted the first Art of the State juried exhibition in January 2010. The exceptional work submitted prompted TVMA to make this exhibit a biennial event that is offered to other museums and art institutions for exhibit. Full-time and part-time studio art faculty at any two or four-year Alabama college or university (public or private) are eligible to enter the competition.  All visual arts media are eligible. By bringing these works of art together, the exhibit will show the direction art is taking in Alabama among those who teach art. The traveling exhibition will feature no more than 40 works of art juried by Nandini Makrandi who is curator of contemporary art at the Hunter Museum of American Art and assistant professor of art history at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.
